Personal information collection notice

This Personal Information Collection Notice applies to the handling of personal information to the extent that it is collected by or provided to us in connection with your participation in this survey. By participating in the survey, you consent to your personal information being used, disclosed and otherwise dealt with as outlined in this Personal Information Collection Notice.

The Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’) is collecting your personal information to inform a review of the Bribie Island erosion and breakthrough, to help safeguard the future of Bribie Island, as well as the safety and prosperity of nearby communities (‘Review’). Information you provide will be considered as part of the Review to guide recommendations on next steps for Bribie Island, and the final report.

Your email address is being collected to encourage integrity in the survey. It will be kept confidential and will not be used for any other purpose unless you choose to opt in to receive future communications from us about the Bribie Island erosion and breakthrough review.

We may work with other government agencies to facilitate and deliver the Review. We may disclose your personal information to other government agencies for this purpose. We may also disclose your personal information to third parties (such as contractors) who are assisting us to undertake the Review. All efforts will be made to de-identify feedback and personal information in any final report.

We will not disclose your personal information to anyone else unless one of the following applies:

  • you have consented
  • you’d expect us to, or we have told you we will
  • it is required, authorised or permitted by law
  • it will prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat to somebody’s life or health
  • the disclosure is reasonably necessary for law enforcement, or for the protection of public revenue.

The Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) permits use and disclosure of your personal information in other circumstances. We will otherwise deal with your personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

Social Pinpoint

Your personal information will be securely stored in our information management systems. We are conducting this survey via Social Pinpoint, which means that the information collected in this survey may also be stored on servers used by Social Pinpoint (including Amazon Web Services) and may be transferred outside Australia. For the purposes of providing support and maintenance, Social Pinpoint may require access to software and data (including personal information).
